Dancers

Nisaa Rose
Nisaa Rose fell in love with the art of Bellydance at the age of 16. She started her dance career in the classic Cabaret genre under the instruction of Zarifa. Since then, she has participated in various seminars, workshops, dance competitions, and troupes. Some of her favorite things about performing with the Roses of the Realm are: the camaraderie, creativity, and versatility everyone in the troupe has. Her favorite props to dance with are: fire fans, sword, and fan veils. She enjoys constantly learning and growing her dance skills to help diversify her craft. Originally from New Orleans, this fun loving Slytherin’s favorite holiday is Halloween and her favorite color is “Jungle Green.” When she is not dancing, she enjoys traveling and making memories with her loved ones.

Jadara Rose
Jadara began dancing in January of 2006 after being captivated the year before by the Jewels of the Caravan at the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Since the beginning of her journey, she has studied under a variety of teachers and has participated in several different troupes including a gothic troupe, several tribal fusion troupes, an ATS® troupe, and the troupes of the Carolina Renaissance Festival: the Jewels of the Caravan and the Roses of the Realm. Coming back each autumn to the Dutch Door Stage at CRF has always felt like coming home.

Firuza Rose
Dance has taken over Firuza’s life in all the best ways. Over 17 years ago, she took a single belly dance class at a local YMCA, and her love for the art has grown ever since. Her favorite dances have an edge of danger, particularly sword-balancing and fire-dancing.

Performing with the Roses of the Realm is a dream come true for Firuza, and she looks forward every year to “gypsy bootcamp” and bringing a smile to festival-goers’ faces.

Currently, Firuza teaches belly dance classes in Salisbury, NC. Her classes focus on encouraging dancers to express themselves. She believes that this dance is for everyone – all shapes and sizes. Firuza previously performed with Nayna’s Raq-A-Bellas troupe and Fatima’s Rhythmic Essence troupe.

Basimah Rose
Basimah has always had a passion for dancing, growing up taking jazz and tap classes.  In 2013, she had the opportunity to begin studying belly dancing and fell in love with the art form!

She began her belly dance journey studying with Yasmine Magic Hips, and then under the tutelage and directorship of Kamilah Belly Dance from 2014 to 2021. Basimah has also attended many workshops taught by some of the best belly dancers and instructors:  Virginia Mendez, Mahaila El Helwa, Nathalie, Fahtiem, and Sadie just to name a few.

Based out of Charlotte NC, Basimah has learned many styles, but focuses on American/Traditional Cabaret and American Tribal Styles (ATS).  She enjoys the variety of dance styles, props, and costuming offered through belly dance and also enjoys mixing all dance types together, creating her own unique perspective on belly dancing when given the opportunity!!

She has been dancing with the troupe, Roses of the Realm, since 2015, which performs at the Carolina Renaissance Festival each year.  Basimah loves to share her passion for belly dance and has performed with several other troupes, as well as entertained through multiple solo performances.

Ailyn Rose
Ailyn Rose was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ever since having her hair braided on her first trip to Carolina Renaissance Festival in third grade, Ailyn has cherished dressing up and immersing herself in the history and fantasy CRF offers. An enthusiastic patron of Jewels of the Caravan and later Roses of the Realm stage shows, Ailyn took her first bellydance class in high school with Magic Hips. Travels in Northern Africa cemented her love for the culture showcased through the artform.

In her adult dancing career she’s enjoyed the instruction and guidance of several regional professionals including Nayna and the Rockabellas. She joined Roses of the Realm in 2017 and looks forward to many more colorful years in the bouquet.

Zohreh Rose
Zohreh has been studying dance since 2003 under the guidance of professional dancers, Zarifa (Charlotte, NC), and Yasmine (Charlotte, NC). She has performed at the multiple events as a member of the Sarab Dancers, Troupe Sholeh, Beledi Beat, Jewels of the Caravan, Infectious Belly Dance, Steps in Time and Roses of the Realm. She has competed and placed in several competitions. She enjoys the artistry, energy and companionship of the dance and often surprises by showing her geeky side in creative choreographies.

Sarah Rose
As a small child, Sarah discovered enjoyment in making people smile, as she would sing and dance for her family. Throughout her childhood, she participated in jazz, tap, ballet, and a slurry of sports. She landed on gymnastics, and she competed for 10 years, finally stepping back after graduating high school and moving to South Carolina. Throughout her time in high school as a competitive cheerleader, she also studied theater and art, participating in many different productions as an actress, as well as stage hand and set designer.

After high school graduation, Sarah participated in several runway shows, modelling and performing with various companies. In 2008, Sarah discovered belly dance and began practicing and performing regularly. From 2009-2013, Sarah performed with the Jewels of the Caravan, an award winning belly dance troupe, at the Carolina Renaissance Festival.  During this time period, Sarah began working more with eating fire and exploring various props. In 2012, the discovery of aerial arts changed her whole life. She began training aerial silks, leading to performing in several large shows, including basketball halftime shows for the Charlotte Hornets.

Her versatility shows, as she also performs now on lyra, trapeze, and straps. She often works with her dance partner, Satya, on duo work on lyra, silks, and ground acro. Sarah is known for her character work and audience interaction. She is available to perform belly dance, fire (eating, breathing, and many props), trapeze, silks, handbalancing, ground acro, and duo work with her partner.

These days, Sarah is also  back at the Carolina Renaissance festival as part of the Roses of the Realm belly dance troupe. Don’t miss them during faire season!

Ghanima Rose
Sprung fully-formed from Zeus’s head sometime after the Cretaceous Period, Ghanima appeared on the bellydance scene in the mid 2000s. Audiences were awestruck as this fiery goddess swung her scimitar through ranks of unsuspecting mediocre white men, thus cementing her role in the Jewels of the Caravan as the Queen of Souls.

Reaping said souls requires Ghanima to descend to the Earth for two months out of the year, during which she graces the stages of the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Hide yo kids, hide yo wife!”

Diana Rose
Diana’s love of belly dance began when she was just 12 years old. It sparked from seeing two dancers compete on America’s Got Talent and only bloomed with encouragement from her mom and dad.

Diana joined Roses of the Realm in 2019 and continues to aim to be the best dancer she can be. Her favorite dance is anything involving a sword or a fun, bouncy beat!

Elle

Elle Rose
Elle was born in the mountains of western NC and raised fighting evil empires on the forest moon of Endor, occasionally flitting off for adventures with Dr. Jones, and often roaming the vast terrain of Hyrule.

Elle started dancing at a young age, but didn’t find Bellydance until her 2nd year at university. A student of Biology and Anthropology, she has always been passionate about exploring the world around her. Bellydance allowed her to turn that same thirst for discovery inward. Every new isolation, shimmy, or layer reminds her that there are vast uncharted territories within!

Having one foot rooted firmly in her Appalachian reality and one floating off into the realms of fantasy, Elle began dancing with Browncoat Bellydance and bringing fandom inspired performance to the masses. More recently she has been performing with her local troupe of dance anarchists, Moonship Performing Arts.

She is thrilled to be joining the Roses of the Realm and can’t wait to dance for you!!

Mira Bella Rose
Mira Bella is a passionate dancer who discovered her love for dance at the young age of 13. From the very beginning, she was captivated by the way dance allows you to express yourself through movement. After completing her minor in dance, in 2009 Mira Bella embarked on her remarkable Belly Dance journey, guided by the talented Yasmine of Magic Hips.

Determined and dedicated, Mira Bella poured her heart and soul into her dance studies, immersing herself completely. In 2012, she had the incredible opportunity to perform at the Carolina Renaissance Festival with the esteemed Jewels of the Caravan. Since then, she has expanded her horizons, seeking knowledge and inspiration from various instructors across the globe. Additionally, she has explored the exciting world of Pole Arts and has become a valued Instructor and competitor.

What truly brings joy to Mira Bella’s heart is witnessing the happiness on her audience’s faces. There’s nothing she loves more than performing with her favorite props, veils and fan veils. The creative challenges that dance presents fill her with excitement and fuel her passion. When she’s not gracefully gliding across the dance floor, Mira Bella enjoys sewing, swimming, and spending quality time playing with her adorable dogs.
